So I understand the reflective idea but how reflective are grey slates to help reflect solar onto the back of these panels?

    Anyone any experience?

Total waste of money IMHO without any hard data

An installer I know has seen some good results from them and I'm just wondering has anyone else.

Afaik they are really for ground mounts. We only have maybe 2 or 3 inches between the roof and panels on the roof. So the back of them won't get light.

Ask him to show you the data showing the extra generation, I would think if you put 1 extra normal panel up you would get better results. As @DC999 said they are a few inches away from the slates which are a dark colour so how much sunlight will be reflected to the underside? Very little I would imagine.
