Currently setup with 18 X PV Panels .. Eddie system diverts to hot water .. Heliotherm heatpump .. Recently had a Zappi home charger installed.

Heatpump comes on at various intervals during the night to heat our water for showers in the morning

If we are charging car and heatpump comes on it trips the MCB switch in our garage and everything is gone. I understand the reason for the trip due to too much power been consumed.

Anyone an idea of a potential solution? .. The electrician has contacted the supplier .. supplier has contacted the manufacturer etc etc etc .. They sent me some settings to change which will lower the device limit to 25.0a .. but then this would be lower for 100% of the time as oppossed to only when heatpump is on.

Surely an issue like this should have been mentioned prior to the install.

That doesn't sound right. Will you post up an clear image of the distribution board?

Is there a sub board in the garage that feeds both the Zappi and the heat pump? Try to upload an image of both boards if so. When was the Zappi installed?

Look at the Zappi manual, it has fairly comprehensive load management capabilities. At its simplest amongst myenergi products you can limit across the devices. I have 2 Zappi's and if both are charging can limit them to 7kW total (ie each gets 3.5kW) , but when only one runs it can get the full 7kW. But on top of that you can add CT clamps around other specific circuits like your heatpump and add that to a group of monitored devices which would then cause the Zappi to reduce its demand when the heatpump starts.

Note: when you configure CTs like this they won't appear in the app/webpage.
