Hey Folks if anyone is interested in cycling with Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly the 3 counties cycle takes place this weekend.

The Sean Kelly Three Counties Cycle will take in the sights and sounds of Clare, Tipperary and Limerick on 50km and 100km routes, suitable for a wide range of abilities, from beginners to well seasoned riders.

Proceeds from the cycle will go towards funding for services provided by Down Syndrome Limerick, which is a local charity that supports children and adults with Down Syndrome. Based in Castletroy, it is managed by its members on a voluntary basis.

Sean Kelly is a legend in the Irish cycling world. He has competed on the world stage with a long and fruitful career in professional cycling, amassing 198 Professional victories and was ranked World #1 for 4 years so this is the perfect opportunity to cycle with a true legend of the sport.

I’m thinking of doing this cycle tomorrow but would love to know what the 100km route is like/any tips etc?

I noticed there is a main group and an easy riders group too - would there be much of a difference in pace, number of cyclists?

    Thanks!

Did you cycle it in the end? Very nice route (except for 1 stretch on MAIN road), only 1 loooong climb.

I began in the 30kmph 9am start, group wasn't at that speed for first 6-8km due to numbers & getting out of the city. After that was happy to drop back and go at our own pace.

Yeah I ended up going in the 100km group although the second speed one! Overall a nice route apart from as you mentioned the stretch on the main (dual carriage way?!) road which was terrible and I couldn’t wait to get to the end of it. I felt the pace of the group was very speedy though and a lot of people struggled to keep up with some dropping off at the 50km turn off … I can only imagine what the 30km/h one was like! Overall a grand Sunday morning cycle.
