This is a very interesting article that provides an analysis of the industry. It had input from the bosses at RTÉ, Bauer, and Wireless, and a few other heads of a few independent broadcasters. Few main points I took:

Interesting to get their view on the long term future or radio - another good 10 years

The 9am time slot with recent changes.

A new show for FM104 is coming but doesn’t say what - anyone know?

That Bauer and Wireless have a good working relationship

Danny boy Healy comparing 2fm to BBC R1 🙄, Yeah Danny, I'm sure a Mid-Mornings chat show hosted by a middle aged woman & a sports talk drivetime show are also what BBC R1 are broadcasting too

Dan’s a gas man right enough. He refers to 2FM as RTE’s “maverick child”. A more apt description would be the family dog with a bad case of distemper!!

I also find the positive spin put on Kevin Bakhurst’s 4 visits to 2fm as being seen as “supportive”. This could be the opposite and part of helping his decision process regarding what to do with the station e.g. revamp, sell etc.
