Just a heads up to any roads enthusiasts here (and I know yis all are 😁) that the largest internet roads interest group, SABRE, of which I am a long-standing member, is having a meet up in Dublin this coming Saturday, September 2nd.

There will be a few SABRE members travelling to Dublin and I will be there, but I thought I’d let anyone else here interested in attending this, albeit at short notice. We will be discussing Irish roads, their development, old road atlases and maps and pretty much everything roads related.

I know that a couple of other regular posters on this forum are members of SABRE and we would love if you could come to share your expertise! 😊👍

    PM me for the details.

Dang, wish I'd known about this sooner, I'd have popped along.

Long term member but increasingly rare poster that nearly always reads the forum logged out (by accident) there so missed this. Would have had to go off early due to other commitments anyway though.

Must poke the dev/admin I know through other things and ask him why he didn't remind me!

Sorry for the very last minute notice, guys.

Originally it was planned for four or five SABRE members to travel over here but the extortionate accommodation prices charged in Dublin put a couple of people off and another guy could not travel due to a UK rail strike. Therefore, it was looking that the meet might not happen and only when it was definite that a couple of members would indeed attend did I feel safe to post up the notice.

Two long-standing SABRE members did manage to make the journey over and we met up in town on Saturday last to discuss roads and maps. 😁 I brought along a rucksack full of current and old Irish and other road maps and we spent most of the warm and sunny Saturday afternoon and early evening discussing these.

Hopefully, this will be the first of many more Ireland Awayday meet ups. Will try to keep you better informed next time! 👍

Literally you gave us 1 day notice!

I am only seeing this now and would have gone to it.
