    Hi,

Can anyone help me with the train from Sallins to Drumcondra, is it direct or do I need to change trains mid-route? Also, how much is the fare using a Leap card?

Thanks so much, I'm a 1st year student and want to be sure that I know where I'm going in Dublin.

I think you can get any train from Sallins t GCD and it will go through Drumcondra. Open to correction on that though.

You should get very comfortable with a-b.ie or the TFI Live app. They’ll let you plan your trip and see real-time updates for buses and trains.

Any Grand Canal dock bound trains will get you to Drumcondra not any of the Heuston bound services.

If you only need to check trains, I find the Irishrail.ie website to be the easiest.

You have more options if you go to Heuston, then take Red Luas to Abbey Street, walk back to O'Connell Street, up to the top of OCS away from the river. From there you can take the 1, 13, 16, 44 bus which all go through Drumcondra and closer to Pats.

Here is the timetable - that will tell you if you need to change en route:

    https://www.irishrail.ie/IrishRail/media/Timetable-PDF-s/Heuston-timetables/16-Dublin-Portlaoise-(from-8th-August-2023).pdf

LEAP fares are EUR 1.95 each way for a student.
