  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭sparrowcar

Liffey from the west and right turn just before the east link bridge down to aviva.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 439 ✭✭TedR

    Thanks!

any idea what it is, is it fast jets do you reckon

Last time was F16s out of Germany I think

Would that route not mean a left turn as they pass mouth of Liffey by the way

    excited ;-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭sparrowcar

That would be Liffey from the east.

As per OP it's rumoured to be Ospreys.

There were 3 Ospreys on the ramp at Casement yesterday.

They are from the USS Mesa Verde(amphibious landing vessel) which is docked in Dublin.

The weather isn't going to help very much for trying to spot them on approach.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,717 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

The weather will clear by then, should be fine for a slow run of V-22s.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,005 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

Hopefully. Weather.com saying rain until 7.45pm (in fairness thats better than the earlier forecast)

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,005 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

3 of them airborne from Baldonnell. I'm a long away and can heard them.

    Heading south.

    Not showing on ADS-B.

This crap is clearing quickly south. hopefully a relatively clear view for the City of the Ospreys formation, but also hopefully a dry evening for the game

Are they going to buzz the Russian embassy on the way?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,005 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

Will they return to Baldonnel, or land on the carrier after?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,005 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

I would guess back. Their support staff are there

I'd imagine the carrier will have to move out into the bay if they are to land on the carrier.

I wouldn't think Dublin Port would allow that sort of thing within their grounds.

Sad news this morning US Marine Osprey gone down in Australia several dead and others seriously injured 23 on board wonder if they will be grounded again. It's on Sky News

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,365 ✭✭✭p_haugh

The V-22 is so unreliable that the US president is specifically blacklisted from flying in them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,159 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

The cause of the crash in Australia is not yet known and it may have nothing to do with the MV-22's systems or reliability.

It appears that there are several reasons why the POTUS doesn't fly on the V-22, including that it was never intended to be a primary transport for the POTUS. https://www.quora.com/Why-isnt-the-president-allowed-to-fly-in-the-V-22-Osprey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭Trebor176

An Osprey or Ospreys are up now. I am in Clondalkin, and can hear the propellers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭aido 1976

All three just flew over my head in Tallaght, in with the rotors in aircraft configuration

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭aido 1976

And again, travelling at a grand speed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭Trebor176

I spotted two (just missed the third). They must be doing a display before departing.

Just local flights only, I’m assume there’s a few Air Corp personnel onboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,159 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

    Landing now for fuel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭SteM

They were low over Citywest a few minutes ago. Three of them right over the house.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭Trebor176

Apparently they're heading back to their carrier now. I'm sure I can hear faint propeller sounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 346 ✭✭denisor

All three are on the apron at Baldonell now with engines running.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 157 ✭✭justmehere

ffs the damn noise of them. It's 2120 now, and the noise has been going on for ages. Is there not some law regarding noise disturbance?!
