Here we go again, another Irish bank's services have crashed. No access to the Bank of Ireland app or website since this afternoon. Their Twitter account is under siege. People reporting card payments declined, can't withdraw cash at ATMs etc. One fella said he filled up at a gas station and he couldn't pay with his card. Embarrassing. Do Irish banks actually invest in their I.T. infrastructure or what? Not to mention their tardiness in giving savers a decent interest rate on their savings. No wonder people despise the banks.

    Totally agree.

App down again tonight. Even when it's up, it's a slow and clunky one.

It had a field of reference issue for about 3yrs before it was sorted. Despite many emails and the issue being raised here many times.

When you have the pleasure of using other financial apps, it makes you realise just how bad the BOI app is.

Sure, they went to spend a billion on their core system infastructure and it didn't turn out to be enough!

Last CEO sailed into the sunset and left a **** show behind.

The problem is they got groups of consultants in, who bought a hodgepodge of systems from other banks.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

    Hi all,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on Boards.ie.

Yesterday a technical issue impacted a number of Bank of Ireland’s services. Our teams restored these services overnight and all services are available to customers this morning. Overnight payments to accounts may appear throughout the day.

We are aware that the technical issue meant some customers were able to withdraw or transfer funds above their normal limits. These transfers and withdrawals will be applied to customers’ accounts today. We urge any customer who may find themselves in financial difficulty due to overdrawing on their account to contact us.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption this outage caused – we know we fell far below the standards our customers expect from us.

    Thanks, Megan
