Probably best directed here but they are definitely not all equal.

Depends on where you live, what infrastructure (phone line, cable, etc.).

From my own experience a few years back, we were with Eir Broadband in a rural area. Service was good considering how far we were from the exchange.

One day a Vodafone rep came to the door and my father was roped into changing to Vodafone. Same infrastructure, so should be the same service right? Unfortunately not. The speed took a huge hit and our connection was dropping constantly. We investigated it with Comreg and it turned out that while Vodafone had the use of the same phone line, the had different equipment at the exchange. So the same line with two different providers can potentially lead to two very different levels of service.

I'm sure things have improved since but i'd make use of your cooling off period when signing up.

Thanks for that, will do as you said....was between Eir + Sky for me so will go for Eir and use my 14 days cooling off period. Am In a large town so should be a decent coverage.👍
