New central heating system...?

Hello all just looking to get opinions not really clued up on this stuff...looking at buying a two story terraced house with no central heating system (older property). Air to water isn't an option, what would be the next best thing. Installing oil central heating or electric radiators with solar panels? Maybe theres other options out there i dont know of.

You give no reason for not considering A2W. Oil fired is your next best option, if gas isn't available.

Solar panels will be of little use to heat the house when you really need it November-March but can help a bit. I have solar and batteries and find it well worth the outlay for most of the year and at the moment you can get paid for exporting excess. Solar generation will depend on the size of system you can fit though. A few people on boards have looked into multi split systems similar to these but I don't know how good they are.

If BER of B2 or higher than air to water might be a good option. Works better with underfloor heating than rads. Lower Than B2 & air to water won't be much good to you.

Hi John, apologies late reply, your right i have not ruled out A2W at all, we also looked at ecovolt rads...do you have A2W and would you recommend?

yeah thats the thing we would need to bring it up to that level beforehand by insulation etc im not sure what that would cost

On a side note would would it actually cost roughly to get oil in place? Is there digging needed etc? sorry clueless here

Hard to know without seeing it. Maybe €15,000. Are you going living in this house?

Ecovolt radiators will likely be much cheaper to install, but also considerably more expensive to run. In the region of twice the cost of oil at current prices.

Yes we plan to live in the house everything going well, e.g structural report comes back ok etc
