Another Advice Thread.

Hi lads.

I've been given good advice here previously so hoping to get the same again(yer a knowledgeable bunch)

My car died and I need to replace it.

We already have an estate in the family, we also have two young kids and all that comes with them.

So we intend in keeping the estate and then getting something cheap and cheerful for me to run in and out of work while still being big enough to fit the kids in the back.

1st priority is reliability, 2nd is price I suppose I'm willing to go to about 5000 but it's be happier to sit between 3000-4000( I know I'm looking at bangernomics here)

I've been thinking of Honda's Civics or Accords.

Although I have a soft spot for a RAV4.

I'd like something that isn't a focus or a corolla but again I know what ballpark I'm in here.

Any help would be great.

I think those diesel engines are very unreliable. Someone else might confirm.

Toyota Prius is a much better option

Accord is on my list as well, have heard both stories. Some say that they are bulletproof with good service, others say to avoid it. I had previous gen VII, till now its one of the best cars I ever driven, smooth engine with great gearbox. Driving it was a pleasure.

The seller of that Accord waffles on about low relevance stuff in the advert but fails to mention the mileage so assume it's mega. Short NCT left on it too. He also has 2 other cars for sale with no mention of mileage and short NCTs so he is no novice. I've be very cautious and take anything said with a pinch of salt by fellas flipping cars at this end of the market. While 2k may not seem a lot for a car, it can be a lot for a turd.

I did think that too.

The lack of milage is strange. And I did notice the other ads.

It's a minefield Bazz. I know I'm not in the high end but I'm hoping there are some decent cars at this range.

Lpg can be great if there's a proper kit installed and theres a place you can buy it, mind that it will need to be serviced as well.

Unless the seller can back it up with receipts I find it odd that someone would bring a 16 year old car to a main dealer for servicing especially something like a Rav4 which don't really require specialist servicing. The other thing is around the LPG conversation, make sure your insurance company is ok with that as they can be difficult or awkward when it comes to anything that they consider a modification.

Things I didn't know. I know there is a garage near me that does LPG but if it's going to be a ball ache to insure and service then I think I'll pass.
