Air-to-water heat pump

Hi, I'm considering installing an air-to-water heat pump in my new home. What is not clear to me is if it is mandatory for this type of pump to properly work a water source, like a lake, river, well, etc. I don't have a source of water close to me, hence my question.

What would be the best alternative? I need it to heat up for the shower as well.

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

An air to water means it will move heat from the air, outside, to the water in your heating system.

It does not need a water source.

TLDW: you dont need a lake/water source etc.
