Using existing CT clamp from Inverter to wire eddi CT2

    Hi,

I Have an Eddi and Solar inverter in terms of solar system.

Each is monitored individually on own app because:

Eddi is showing hot water and grid only but isn't aware/showing green generation from inverter (always a zero and also have a yellow exclamation mark on MyEnergi app.

Inverter's app only showing solar and grid and isn't aware of solar/green generatio.

It's awkward to run a wire from inverter to eddi and there's already cable going from where inverter id to near eddi so it may be used for wiring to eddi, assuming the existing ct clamp can be split so that existing wire is read by Inverter and 2nd goes to Eddis unused CT2

    Can't split a CT.

But there is a reasonably cheap solution for you that doesn't require wiring. You can buy a myenergi harvi plus an additional CT. You connect the CT to your inverter and the other end to the harvi (all right beside your inverter). The harvi is powered by the CT, so doesn't need any battery or power supply. The harvi then wirelessly sends the data to your eddi / to your myenergi app. Job done 😁

Thanks for clarifying the ct clamp non split - at least that's one thing eliminated.

With regards Harvi, Yes, I was looking at the Harvi before, but trying to explore eliminating another piece of hardware/complexity.

As I have no Zappi or battery, I can probably get away with another CT Clamp directly to Eddi somehow.

Not sure if two CT Clamps can reside on the same inverter and if it's easy to even attach the CT clamp to the inverter cable

Yes you can have more than 1 CT on the same cable and yes, of course it eliminates another bit of hardware if you hard wire the CT from your inverter straight to the eddi.

The harvi is simply a cheap device that integrates well within the myenergi ecosystem that saves you the sometimes very awkward task of having to hard wire...

Bought a CT clamp, just need a sparky to connect unless it's easy to find out where the inverter output is and I can use Harvei even if needed
