Clutch pedal

Hi all,

Pick your brains on something.

Clutch pedal did not retract when changing gear at the weekend. It stays in the pressed position with what feels like 50mm of travel before hitting the floor.

With the engine running and clutch pedal pressed fully I cannot get it into reverse, 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th. Only 3rd and 4th engage with some force, no grinding.

I can select all gears with the engine off.

Is it clutch cable? How much might it cost?

Presume it’s a hydraulic clutch in a modern car. Strange that it would go into any gear at all in your situation.

The clutch/clyinder is buggered. Have also seen master cylinder issues on these

I assume you have checked brake fluid level , and would also agree clutch master cylinder issue as it might be a plastic one known for issues on many different makes of car.

I had something similar two weeks ago on my 2015 passat. Clutch master cylinder, cost 320 I think to fix.

Had no idea brake and clutch fluid would be in the same reservoir.

Checked brake fluid reservoir, looked dry.

In with mechanic this morning.
