PV mounting gear not grounded

Just had my panels installed on my roof and the electrician said the PV mounting gear was not grounded. Only +/- cables come down from there.

    The inverter is grounded though.

Is it ok not to have grounding like this? What if there is lighting hitting my panels/rails?

Each panel is supposed to be bonded (grounded effectively) but a frame mounted on a high roof is questionable. If it was a metal shed or structure in normal reaching distance then yes, but I think that panel bonding alone is sufficient on a roof. Each panel will have an earthing point on the rear of the rails.

The reason is that stray voltages may accumulate across the panels and may exceed 50v DC.
