Well at least Diane won it last year so don't feel that bad for her.

This year: 2 people bow out at the start and now Stefan. Is it the worst year for this kind of thing?

And Stefan is the one in pain with an injury, poor guy. I hope he makes a good recovery.

ETA - can't see that there's much loss on Dianne. Winner last year, baby on way, she and Stefan would have been out shortly, either way, so my sympathy remains with him.

    Jumping from a sinking ship.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Strictly series paused for the forseeable future.

Scraping the barrel with 'celebs' and all the controversy of maltreatment.

The viewers for last years series was the lowest since series 1.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Traitors, both regular and celeb versions were moved to a Saturday and Sunday evening to replace it.

One of the reasons I'm not the Strictly fan I was 10 years ago is Tess. She's wooden, unengaging and doesn't come across as genuine. I think a lot of fans feel the same way. That's good news for the BBC though, replacing her shouldn't be a huge problem.

Claudia, however…that's going to be tough. I'm not surprised she's is going, her stock is up, with The Traitors and The Piano, so she'll remain a fixture on TV.

I like Tess. She's not as great at the ad lib as Bruce was and Claudia is, but she does what it says on the tin.

One of my stand out memories was when Craig commented on Anton's "fake" Austin Powers teeth, when they were actually his own. And Tess collapsed in a fit of laughter and Anton's partner (I can't remember her name but she was in Eastenders) put a hand on Tess and said something like, bit inappropriate or hurtful or something to get Tess to stop laughing. I was with Tess on that one...very funny...but the partner wasn't wrong... bit awkward for poor Anton! 😄😄😄

Strictly has lost it's sparkle and both ladies are right to get out now. Its not long for Saturday night BBC viewing I fear. The weekly comments on the FB page are a bit eye wateringly cruel too. Not specific to Tess and Claudia, usually aimed at Shirley or the dancers. But why would you want to subject yourself to the possibility of facing that!

I will miss them both, but agree it's indicative of the whole show becoming a bit stale.

You're right about Strictly losing its sparkle. There does seem to be a lot of "jumping from a sinking ship" comments online about Tess and Claudia. I mean, I said above I'm not the fan I was, and there are several reasons for that. Firstly, Tess, as I said, I don't find her genuine. Secondly, some of the casting decisions over the last few years have been odd. I understand why YouTubers etc are now part of the lineup (even if I don't agree with it), but I don't agree or understand why they have former Love Island or Apprentice contestants - as I said in a previous comment, if someone if only famous from reality TV, then they don't belong on a celebrity show. Finally, and probably most of all, I think the format has just grown tired, always a likely outcome after 21 years.

Add to that all the scandals, and you've a show in trouble. I can't see the BBC pulling the plug yet, but if the ratings start to fall off dramatically, then they won't hesitate to bring the show to an end, save for an annual Christmas special.

I still remember the very first episode. Seems weird now to think about it, Strictly on in May. The first episode was a lead-in for the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest!

    Emma Barton, Honey in Eastenders.

I like both women too, and I think they are suited to the roles they respectively hold. Tess holds the straightforward presenting role, Claudia is ready for whatever happens, and can be funny or serious as the occasion demands.

Tbh, I think it's going to be hard to replace them.

If they get it right, they might just bring the show back to life and give it another 10 years of being a Saturday night juggernaut. if they get it wrong, the end might come quickly.

Just please, no Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden or Stephen Mulhern. They'll kill it stone dead. And no Alison Hammond either. Unlike the first three, I like Alison, but we don't need her fronting everything.

    True @supereurope

If they wanted to ring the changes though, the presenters were the least of their worries, imo. Also agree with you about who NOT to choose.😁

It's quite fun reading people's hopes and fears on social media. A lot of people are scared Amanda Holden will get it, or Bradley Walsh (and he always comes with his talentless son attached.)

Some people have suggested Hannah Waddingham, she'd be a great choice, but unlikely to be interested.

I'd imagine a lot of phone calls are being made to agents today…

True. To be fair I didn't think bake off would last on C4 but it's holding its own nicely.

I class Strictly in the same category as Christmas. I like my tradition and am fearful of changing it 😄

The only person I could see taking Claudia's role is Zoe Ball. She was so good on It Takes Two. Claudia is a huge loss to the show. She's brilliant at what she does.

I like Tess but she is a bit wooden and I think she would be more easily replaced.

The show is definitely tarnished by all the scandals, and it's not what it used to be. But it's still head and shoulders above any of the other family light entertainment shows out there even at its current lower quality.

Week 5 often has a shock exit & this one is no different.

I wouldn't have expected Jimmy and Lauren to win but thought they would last a couple more weeks.

I am sick of the two of them at this point.

    They've flanderised themselves.

Lewis and Karen the best ones tonight. I think Harry, George and Ellie might be in trouble this week.
