    Hi folks,

Just looking for some thoughts please.

I'm currently driving a 08 Skoda Octavia with 400k kms on it. I service it every 15k kms and it drives well. It is getting old though and owes me nothing. It's a 1.9 diesel engine.

I bought it when it was a year old and I have to say I'm fairly shocked at the price of used cars out there at the moment.

I'd best start researching what I'll buy next in case my car just gives up some day.

I want to get a used car unless new offers super value.

Budget 15k will push to 20k if something special comes up.

Will be driving about 20k kms a year.

    Any suggestions?

Fair play, you’ve certainly gotten your value out of that car.

With regular servicing, it’d probably do another 400,000.

You’ve fairly wide criteria there. You looking for something solid and reliable or sporty? Need space for pets/kids? Any other important info to narrow the search?

    Thanks Hoodie6029,

I'm not really looking for anything except reliability, and don't have a keep up with the Jones attitude. Not knocking anyone who likes cars.

So the use case is fairly simple, no need for sporty, small family only one child, relatively low mileage. Just looking for good value and comfort. Thank you for replying. I'd be happy driving my current car until it gives up but I want to be realistic and ready to purchase when the time comes.

Can’t go wrong with a Prius if it’s reliability your after. You’ll appreciate the automatic drive and hybrid engine. You’ll get a facelift 2017+ model for around €15k

+1 on the Prius. Auris/Corolla hybrid either if the Prius is a bit big for your needs.

A slight alternative could be worth looking into is a Peugeot 308 estate.
