New builds and Virgin

I moved to a new build estate earlier in the year. Developers say it's wired for Virgin and Eir but I am unable to get either. I have given up on Eir who are falsely claiming FTTC is available even though it isn't. I have been advised that I could be waiting at least a year or more for Eir and that Virgin will probably be available sooner. Unlike Eir, nearly all the surrounding houses/estates have Virgin 2gb available and there are Virgin manholes in the estate, however my eircode isn't recognised on Virgin's website and their CS isn't much help. Does anyone have any experience with Virgin and new builds? Are they my best hope for broadband?

I expect they won't install until most or all houses are finished. In theory you might be able to get through to someone in virgin media but they'll probably do it when they get around to it.

Some mobile phone based 4G/6G to WiFi can be good to keep you going. Typically Vodafone is best and most expensive but it depends on the area and how overloaded the mast is in the evenings. They typically have low data caps.

Typically where virgin exists, non virgin fibre to the home will be low priority for providers. All you can do is probably wait or go with phone to WiFi system.

Yeah all the houses are complete since the start of the year. However the footpath outside the estate is unfinished and I have a bad feeling this might be holding things up.

I have a rolling contract with Three at the moment but like you said it tends to get overloaded in the evenings. I'd go with Vodafone but I don't want to be tied to a contract in case Virgin/Eir turn up.

That's interesting about fibre being low priority where Virgin exists. It would match up with my experience at my old address and would probably explain how sporadic Eir is in the area. There is an Eir fibre distribution point on the pole outside though which gives me some hope.
