2017 Honda Civic - All the warning lights

Wife's car started throwing up some errors our of the blue yesterday. Pretty much every warning that can come up, did.

    • ACC
    • LKAS
    • EP
    • Tyre Pressure
    • VS
    • Brake Hold
    • Power Steering
    • ABS
    • and a few more

It was on for about a day, and I told my wife to drive the car with the headlights on (rather than on Auto) as I'd head that civics don't actually charge the battery until the headlights or on. Basically, the battery was getting low.

Seems to have resolved itself now, but that's pretty crazy, isn't it? All those errors, no mention of battery?

Probably could do with putting a new battery in it if its still on the original battery.

When the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree with random warnings for all sorts of different systems not directly connected to each other then I usually suspect the battery so get the battery tested. Any tyre centre or motor factors will do it for you. Lidl are selling battery testers too at the moment too.

Youre right that they dont charge unless the battery senses a load on it - so turn everything on - headlights, wipers ,heated screen etc.

But Im leaning against battery to be honest - Usually when its a battery issue you get the A symbol for stop / start with a line through it - did you get this a couple of days before hand or did the stop / start stop working?

Or else a red battery light on the dash - they dont usually light everything up but I have seen it when a battery is really low- usually when someone has been away and leaves it in the airport!!!

With that model Civic the whole dash lights up for any issue the ECU finds.

    Is it the 1.0l?

Theres a couple of thing that will light the dash up like that.

Collision avoidance camera in the windscreen is one.

Radar behind the front bumper is another one.

Both of these can be intermittent and clear themselves.

The most serious one if it is the 1.0 litre make sure you are getting it serviced at 8000 km or less. The engines are packing up on these and the warranty has been extended to 7 years from build date.

First sign is usually Xmas tree dashboard.

Id get it scanned by a dealer for piece of mind - if its engine failure it shows up as low oil pressure warning saved in the ECU diagnostics.

If its not the 1.0 litre ignore the above - The 1.5 and diesel are bullet proof.

This is a common enough problem on the 10th gen civic. I had it on my 1.5t. I brought it to honda and they said its okay. They just cleared the fault and did nothing, so it just happened again. I scanned it myself and found the problem was a rear wheel speed sensor. I ordered one from honda and when I went to collect it, the parts guy told me they'd ordered three that week. I fitted the sensor and it has been all good.

I got a mechanic friend of mine to scan it. Rear wheel speed sensor error. It's under warranty, but at leti know what the issue is.

Mine was under warranty (2 years old) and honda wouldn't fix it. Thay said the car had no fault codes, which is because they'd just cleared them. But it just came back, so I ordered the sensor (€99) and fitted it myself.

We only bought it recently from a dealer with 3 months warranty, so hopefully we don't get the run around.
