    Hi guys

the OH contract is finished at the end of June, it’s her first job in Ireland and she has worked there since oct 2021.

she doesn’t have a psc card and has been trying to get an appointment on the phone all week but there not answering the phone and they haven’t replied to emails yet.

so my question will she be eligible for JSB and should she call in to the local welfare office Monday to start the application or will they tell her she needs to wait until she gets her psc card before she can start the application. As she is afraid that she might lose a couple of weeks money waiting for the card to be issued

Thanks in advance for any help

Go in, say you want to sign on. They'll ask you if you have a card, and if you don't, they'll do one for you.

It's near impossible to get through to Intero offices, best advice is to call into local office, they'll arrange an appointment to get a PSC card as part of the application process, without a PSC, application for JSB/A has to be done face to face. Make sure O/H has ID, POA etc but apply immediately & Don't delay

Where was she working before she started working in Ireland in October 21?

she was working in uk for a year and her home country in EU before that for 10 years or so.

Ok. She can try and use her NI contributions from the UK/EU to make up the deficit in Irish PRSI.

She hasn’t got anywhere near enough Irish PRSI to get JSB without relying on insurance contributions from abroad. It’s all included in the jobseekers application form.

As it’s her first time to apply she’ll have to present herself at her local SW office on her first day of unemployment.

Just coming back to this. My OK has finished a short-term contract so she now has over two years class A stamps in Ireland and would be eligible to claim the stamps, she has been asking to fill in a Habitual Residence Condition form is that the normal for someone who isn't irish and has only lived in Ireland for 24 months

Habitually resident is a requirement for every person applying for Jobseekers Payment, this question is asked of everyone and has absolutely nothing to do with being non Irish.

As dempo says, every one applying for jobseekers has to complete the HRC.

She also has to show that she is looking for and available for full time work, right from day 1.

the rate of jobseekers benefit she will get will be based on her earnings over 52 weeks in 2021.

She may be better off on JSA. That’s where the HRC kicks in.

Im looking back at your OP and you say she only started work in Oct 2021. That means she hasn’t got enough PRSI for jobseekers benefit. But listen. Apply anyway. She’ll have to pass the HRC and if she’s living with you she’ll be means tested against your income.
