    Hi all.

I have the Ryanair app on my phone.

Wife and young one heading away this week. I have checked them in and added the boarding passes to my Google Wallet. Can't see any way to share them so have taken screen shots and sent them to her via WhatsApp.

Will they work this way at the airport. I won't be there.

I also can't see anyway of printing them off the Ryanair app.

    Any advice appreciated.

OP I’ve sent boarding card screen shots to friends before never any issue with them working.

Thanks all, I've put the app on her phone to be on the safe side. I'd never hear the end of it if there was some problem at the airport. 😁😁😁😁

I’ve seen plenty of people turned back at security because they’ve been using screenshots.

Are you it’s not because it’s not scanning as their phone is dimming when turned over

If travelling with someone else it's a good idea to have both boarding cards on your two phones.

Provides a back up if any problems with one phone.

Yeah always WhatsApp them onto my wife and never had any issues.

    I fly a lot.

When people get refused by the automatic gates the security overseeing the gates checks their phone. The first question is always “is this a screenshot?”

The machines reject them (not always obviously) because they’re lower resolution than the original.

Play it safe and just download the app.

Or make sure you have image quality set to medium/high in WhatsApp

So the rejection is be use of quality and not because it’s a screenshot.

    i also fly a lot.

Sign in on the website and then you can print off the boarding pass as a backup.

Your wife should be able to export the boarding pass to Google Wallet if she has a Google Wallet account on her own phone once she is logged into your Ryanair account. I always save boarding passes to Google Wallet, the Ryanair app and as a screenshot. Once you have the boarding pass saved to Google Wallet you don't need an internet signal to access the boarding pass. I find my reception (Gomo) at Dublin airport can be slow at times so I don't like relying on the Ryanair app too much. It will work but the boarding pass can take ages to load on the Ryanair app. Screenshots have also worked fine for me as well in the past.

screenshots have always been perfect for me! Its my backup. These days I usually save boarding passes to Google wallet anyway.

Screenshots are good for backup but I was in security the other week & a family only had screenshots & nothing they were doing could get them to work & scan. The guy at security did ask if they were screenshots & asked if they could find the original as it often doesn't work right. For piece of mind, I'd try to get them the actual either via sharing in Google Wallet or on the app itself.

Yeah, I've used screenshots for multiple flights they've always worked. Most recently in October going to and from Tenerife.

I had 4 boarding passes in my phone wallet and just flicked through them for Security to scan, no issue. On checkin though, she took my phone and opened the information section for each pass.

Quite possible (only guessing) that the issue with screenshots is when they are screenshotted on one phone and used on a different phone with different screen resolution.

This will result in a resized image which might not scan correctly.

Yes. A screenshot definitely works. Just make sure the brightness is turned up.

That's true. A screenshot taken on one phone and used on the same phone is identical by definition as long as it's stored in a lossless format such as PNG which on my Android phone at least it is.

As far as using a screenshot on one phone that was generated on another goes, another issue could arise if you use WhatsApp to send them as it compresses image files by default.

    Yes, Screenshot should work,

My OH's mother flew from Lithuania to Ireland and back, about 5 weeks ago, and only had screenshots of the boarding card on her phone... as long as the barcode is clear it should be fine.

I screenshotted from my iPhone 13, and sent it to her iPhone 6, with no issues.

Having said what I said in my post above, I find it hard to understand how even a slightly resized or compressed QR code image can cause much in the way of a problem. I've had cases where I've had to scan QR codes on devices or products and even in bad light at strange angles and slightly out of focus my phone still manages to read them no problem. Maybe the scanners used at airports are just more fussy?

I've never been brave enough not to bring the boarding passes.

What do you do just down load the app?
