Bonded Beads in the cavity history

Hi everyone , , Dermot Here in Perth in western Australia, I have a spray foam insulation businees here in perth , 2 years ago we started to bring in the BONDED BEAD system for the cavity insulation , the cavities here are only 50mm , we have acompetitor ( aussie company ) promoting LOOSE Beads in the cavity , I am currently taking to a lawyer regarding this other guy misleading the public and blathingly telling everyone that our bonded beads are crap and they let in water . I know myself as i remember the old white beads that were injected into my dads house in Rathangan in Kildare , back in the 1970's , and they all fell out on the gorund , i am looking for information when where the bonded beads introduced and what year , and any ecomendations who to talk to , we bring the Glue in from the Ireland .and our equipment is from Ireland.

I have no idea how to help you but the following questions popped into my head;

What are the Aussie requirements for certification of building products?

Is the product you currently use certified for use in (Western) Australia? Is your competitors?

Maybe have a read of the bonded bead certification literature you bring in from Ireland (assuming it has certification).

Thanks Mick . I have the NSAI and the BBA certification for the Bonded beads ,we will be ,hopefully using them to add to our certificate here.

Australian certification is a lot more robust that the Irish system.

Neither NSAI or BBA certification is valid in Australia. You need certification for NCC and AS 4859.1

Loose polystyrene beads specifically? Aren't they problematic with the PVC coatings on electrical wiring to causing it to degrade and require replacement?

I believe that the bonding acts to prevent this reaction with the bonded bead (not 100% on that).
