Audi key fob problems

Bought a 171 Audi A4 2.0 tdi the other day and I'm having awful trouble with the key fob/central locking.

It works fine sometimes but other times there's no response from it whatsover resulting in me having to open the door with the key then the fecking alarm goes off. It's the key fob where you take the key seperate from the fob to use it.

Anyone any solutions to this? Nightmare.

Did you try changing the battery.

No I don't have a spare. It works sometimes and there's no warning light for low key fob battery. Could it be the battery? It's driving me mad with this alarm going off every time.

Of course it could be the battery. Did you only get one fob?

Two, the other doesn't work. But I'm not sure if its just the same problem.

Change both batteries and go from there.

Will get new ones tomorrow but something telling me this isn't the problem but I hope you're right. Thanks.

New battery for fob was all that was needed. Strange no warning came on.

    Thanks guys.

To increase the range of the fob, hold it next to your head and press the button.

This doubles the range. I do not know why, but it does.
