Given that the purpose of Saorsat is to infill saorview gaps, why is pretty much every UEFA programme blocked?

Surely, RTE can make a good argument to have games and preview programmes unblocked? Overspill, if any, is tiny and unlikely to be detrimental given the other ways people can access content online by various methods.

Greece v Ireland is FTA on 28 East. ViaplayXtraHD on 11426 V.

Which makes the blocking of the game on Saorsat more ridiculous.

Saorsat should be treated as Soarview and the NI Minimux should have the same restrictions as Sky for programmes where rights don’t exist. Maybe it’s something RTE have overlooked?

Viaplay had the rights to all of the UK, 67m people

RTE2 had the rights to ROI only, 5m people.

If they put it on Saorsat it would potentially add 2m on to the 5m they have the rights to, or 40% extra to the potential viewership

Viaplay adding it to the freeview platform adds 5m to the 67m or about 7% to their potential viewership so not as much of a rights issue
