Too good to be true

In market for a small EV or premiun second hand ICE. Yesterday, I saw a BMW 5 years old, 2 owners and only 5,000 km on it. The car is clean inside, outside even though i didn't run mechanical inspection. It seemed too good to be true.

Checked car history which tells me finance due on the car and it has been declared off road/ usage other than private, for a period of few months.

Is it complete a no go ? Or can it be a good deal ? Has anyone dealt with something similar before.

5 year old car with 5k on it. Something seriously wrong there. Can only bring you trouble.

Nothing wrong with a car thats done 5k in 5 years. You just have to be cautious.

The car being declared off the road would be a good sign that the mileage is genuine. Most cars under 5 years old have finance owed. Have you spoke to the seller? Surely they can explain why it hasn’t been driven and what they are going to do about the finance payment.

Has the car ever been NCT’d or serviced? Any other records of previous mileages?

Its not uncommon - I have two cars that have done more or less zero mileage in the last two years, another that currently does 1k a year at most, and I do 3k a year in my main car. Just get it checked out first.

I know one lad who bought an M5 based on a really crappy written advert, with supposed micro-mileage. Loads of people said it was a scam, and now he owns literally one of the tidiest M5's anywhere in the world.

The aul fella bought a lovely 70’s Land Rover in Co Down by taking a chance on a similar crappy ad on Gumtree. As was posted by a genuine older man, he was just stuck in the old ways of advertising.

He seemed genuine when he called him and it made it worth the trip.

A Silver E60 in near Dundrum? I know of one which owned by the most unlikely of people. Couldn't believe my eyes when it pulled up one day.
