Illness benefit on Social Welfare

Quick question. I'm on jobseekers benefit at the moment and finding it tough. My doctor has 'signed me off' for depression and I've just got a message from Social Welfare that my claim has been approved and I will be getting €220 per week. This is down from my current payment of €336. Is there any way to make this difference up?

Were you claiming for an adult dependent or child(ren) on your jobseekers claim? If you were, you can claim for them on Illness benefit too. Did you include all family details (if applicable) on the illness benefit application?

I'm pretty sure I did as I didn't have to change any details but I'll double check just in case. Thanks for your reply.

The personal rate is PRSI based so decided automatically, any dependant allowances on the claim are means tested and usually come a little bit later. Give them a ring on Monday morning and they'll get it sorted for you within a couple of days.
