161 Mazda 6.6 Check Engine Light - EGR

Hi, I have a 161 Mazda 6 2.2 which has clocked 95k kms. ..last month it started showing check engine light - so I showed it to few mechanics who ran diagnostics to determine it is an EGR issue.

They reset the light, but it has popped up again after driving around 1000 kms in one month. I haven't seen any performance issues like limping or anything

What are my legal solutions? Can carbon cleaning be effective ?

Get rid of the car, it will break your heart

Either the above or get rid/gut the dpf and egr and get it remapped accordingly. It's the only thing that keeps the Mazda 2.2 half reliable.

Yep no other way just remove the DPF and EGR and get it remapped. Proper job will cost you €500 or so from a DPF specialist. If your not willing to do that then your only other financially sane option is to sell the car

The sensor goes in those, had the same happen to me on my old Mazda 6. Had to get the DPF gutted and remapped.

95K is very low for a 7 year old car, the Skyactiv-D needs frequent long journeys to keep it in any way reliable.

Between the DPF and the injector issues that cause extra diesel accumulation in the sump during regens, it wasn't Mazda's finest hour. Pity, as the 6 in general is a brilliant car otherwise.
