Looking at a 2019 c class

Hi all,

Looking at a 2019 c class, well planning on buyin it tbh. It is the facelift model, it's a 200d and I believe it has the OM654 engine. Although that's from a quick Google of the engines in that car post facelift so I'm guessing but it's a 1,950 cc engine. Has auto gearbox

Anyone know anything about these cars/engine/reliability?

Also I do not do alot of mileage at all, I drive into the office twice a week in Dublin city centre traffic approx 16km each way, so probably do 100km total a week, will that screw up a diesel engine with carbon build up?

If so I live beside the M50, how regularly would I have to give it a blast on that to prevent any dpf issues..

I have no desire for the diesel engine but they don't seem to exist in Ireland with petrol engines.. or at least not the year model I'm looking for

https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mercedes-benz-c-class-2018-sport-premium-plus/33919759 try this one, should get you at least 20 km'ish on battery about 40 mpg after that, you would need to charge to make it back, or just drive the petrol engine home, for such small mileage a v8 would not kill you on fuel, no need to arse up and down the m50 trying to heat up the dpf.

Generally speaking driving on the M50 wouldn’t clear a DPF. Too much slowing down and interrupting the regeneration process. Unless your driving late in the evening.

A C350e is much nicer to drive and would suit your driving better

If your only doing 100km total per week and most of that in the city then the last car you should be looking at is a diesel car. And if you have to drive it outside your normal type of usage just to use it properly then again your buying the wrong type of car.

There is also a plug in hybrid version of that C Class but prices for them seem to be a good bit higher. An alternative might be to look at something like the Lexus IS300h:

Thanks, unfortunately both of them outside price range and not sure if they facelift models, grills don't look right.

Surely diesel cars couldn't be sold to the public I'f not driving them in specific conditions ruined them? Sure ,3/4 of the cars in the country are diesel

Giving it a spin at 150 up the M50 for 20 mins at 10pm at night wouldn't bother me at all of that's what I needed to do once every few weeks

If needed would be doing it late at night not during the day, the house is 1 minute from M50 exit so not an issue

Going out of your way on pointless journey’s just to clean your DPF is mad😂

Just buy a C350e, they are much nicer to drive and you’ll spend €0 on fuel if you fancy charging it. Otherwise it will work well as a normal hybrid and you won’t have to listen to a horrible diesel engine

Op google ' DPF' problems ' and you will see why people are advising a person doing low kms to avoid diesel.

I'm kind of coming around to your thinking lads, looking at a few of the 350e now. Just disappointed how few are to choose from.
