Their treatment of country music is similar to trad, except the difference is, with trad, people are moaning, 'too much international acts'. The problem with country specials, for my mam, at least, was not enough American acts. Ended up being the same dozen Castleblayney jobbers.

I hope I wasn't being too hard on Nigel and did acknowledge his talent.

It's ok for us all to have different opinions and maybe if you took a bit from all our ideas you would come up with a better show.

The production team did their stuff and went for chat and music which suits some but not all.

I'd class it as good light entertainment.

Nobody was expecting opera and classical music. It was Nigel who mentioned it.

A bit inappropriately, I thought , because chat is not associated with those genres whereas it is part of a trad session.

I think people need to listen to some criticism a bit more, there is an awful lot of defense on boards.ie of any criticism given. There must be times when you are critical of things. I don't know enough about trad music, I did read that letter in the Sunday Indo and though it was a well crafted letter.

In other news IMO it is really looking more and more likely that Cuddihy will be presenting TLLS and that PK will be producer.

It was a well crafted letter and the writer is a very accomplished trad musician.

As I said I had no intention of being hard on him.

I'm just listening to Kieran Cuddihy at the moment. Do you think he would make a good job of the LLS ?

    I'm not sure.

I don't but that's its not our plans TBH.

We know PK is a 3 - 4 year host on TLLS, his contract is up for re-negotiation for 26/27, I cannot see beyond this for him. But who have RTÉ developed in the last 3 years to take over from him?

My conspiracy theory is that RTÉ got Cuddihy in to present Liveline and promised him TLLS once its starts being produced by an Independent company, thus he will be able to get paid for both Liveline and TLLS without declaring his TLLS earnings. And I'd suggest that Patrick K's independent company will be producing TLLS. either next year 26/27 or the year after 27/28.

Not sure where RSVP picked up his answer from but here you go

    https://www.rsvplive.ie/news/celebs/kieran-cuddihy-would-absolutely-love-36571825

"I think most people would love a crack at the Late Late Show. It is is the media institution in the country. Absolutely," Kieran said.

"It was very nice to be mentioned in that context. But you have to wind your head in a little bit, like I was mentioned in that context because I was on the front pages doing Liveline.

Do you see PK staying as host into the 2029? RTÉ have already stated it will move from RTÉ and become a commission.

As I say who have they supported to take on the role? They could be left with having to going to find someone like PK to take over.

I see, he just didn't rule it out which is fair enough.

I'm still not sure he'd be right for the job.

Maybe if they gave him a try out on something else on TV he might prove me wrong.

I don't know if PK will want to stay on.

It's a tough one really, maybe Oliver Callan.

I wonder does @Welsh Megaman even know, and just sharing a meme found on the web?

From reverse image searches and similar photo matches on social media, it doesn't point to a specific famous celebrity, influencer, or publicly identified person—it's more likely a random/amateur party snapshot that's been shared around for humorous effect. No clear name or identity pops up tied to this exact image in recent discussions or searches.

I'm just listening to Kieran Cuddihy at the moment. Do you think he would make a good job of the LLS ?

Definitely not, he was good on the hard shoulder but he isn't a good fit for liveline either. He is too young and contemporary for the liveline listenership, his family is too young and he is too kilkenny and gaa focused aswell. He really needs to be 10 years older a bit cantankerous and a bit comedic for liveline .

RTE making the same mistake again if they are lining him up for LLS. They throw all their eggs into the one basket like they did with Marian finucan and miriam o callaghan, Ryan tubridy and to a lesser extent Clare Byrne. They bet everything on one individual and they are the big trend for a while until they don't live up to the hype .

    Evening all 🙂

Is John Bishop waiting in RTE's reception?

He appears to have been on more times than Francis Brennan/Keith Barry/Dermot Bannon.

Half the line up was on the Late Late before with Kielty. Why cannot he get decent guests?

    What a bore-fest.

    Ruth seems nice.

John Bishop looks like the monk. 😀

I've always likes him and his on stage stuff but he also keeps himself very fit.
