Drunk driver appeals conviction over the fatal crash, says 'he shouldn't have represented himself' https://jrnl.ie/6072576

So a lad who was the cause of the death of a young girl sacked his legal team at his trial and represented himself at that trial. Is now back in court claiming he should not be allowed to have represented himself and is now appealing the sentence. I presume all done through free legal aid.

The legal profession has this country tied up in knots.. an F-In joke.

His defence team are literally going with the "our client is a moron" defence

“A person’s right to represent themselves can be over-ridden in the public interest. The waiver of legal representation has to be voluntary and an informed choice. They have to intelligently elect to do so,” said Lynn.

“In this case, the judge was very, very concerned and a family member called it “delusional” and that he [Collins] couldn’t represent himself. Of course it wasn’t an intelligent choice,” said Lynn

    Gas stuff

That being said, this hearing sounds like it has a valid point to argue as regards representation
