Keeping car in Ireland and UK

I have moved to UK, but would like to keep my Irish reg car in Ireland for weekend visits. I own it outright. It's 4 years old. I was thinking of buying a car in UK - three year old VW Polo. I will be here for 5 years. Just wondering can I ensure a car in both Ireland and UK. UK said they will accept Irish no claims bonus which is 5 years. Do I lose the no claims bonus then on Irish car? Just wondering about my licence also - I understand I have to hand it in for UK licence after 12 months - how does this impact me driving and insuring car in Ireland if I have a UK licence in a year's time.

You can keep your Irish licence as long as it's valid, to use in the UK. No need to change it unless it expires while you are based here.

If you are resident in England you can't insure a car in Ireland once your residency changes, +186 days or whatever in the UK in a year.

Admiral in UK recognised my Irish no claims bonus in full when I came here. But i don't know that any Irish company will recognise a UK no claims when you go back... And you will lose your Irish one..

You cannot insure a car in Ireland as a resident and use a uk licence. It's not valid
