Camera Gear Insurance Recommendations

Hi guys, total newbie to Boards here!

I've recently invested quite a bit of money into gear to take my freelancing gig full time after being made redundant at the end of last year. All going well so far, thankfully.

One thing I've been trying to nail down is insurance for all of my equipment - at home, in the car, and on location. I've been looking at OBF and camerainsurance .ie and don't really know what sort of things to look for in the fine print.

The last thread I can find in this forum is from 2009 / 10, so i was wondering if anybody has some recommendations on providers?

    Thanks in advance!

    Where are you?

I have AON Insurance (<--- Link) My policy is based in Australia but covers me internationally. I think they have offices around the world.

Things I like is not having to specify the items covered and they have a fairly low excess for damage. My fisheye got chipped at an event. it was not worth repair so it was replaced.

    Thanks for the response!

I'm based in Ireland, so was hoping for something national, but will look into AON and see if they operate here.

If you use the equipment for any business purpose, then AFAIK there are only 2 brokers in Ireland who will quote for it : https://www.obf.ie/business-insurance/photographers-insurance/ and https://www.camerainsurance.ie/

Prior to Brexit, we used to have access to the UK companies - but that's all ended now.

For non-business usage insurance, the best option is often to add it to your home contents policy.
