You know, if you look at a map of Ireland with the flags overlaid - it looks to me like Connacht is trying to stab Ulster, and Ulster is there going 'noooooo'.

I've just realised that I'm going to miss this match tonight, our S&S club have their annual cuisine night in Limerick tonight.

Sorry Ulster fans but I hope Connacht do the business up there tonight.

Weather holding up for now but some dark clouds rolling in.

Rain would suit ulster you'd imagine.

A match thread! How novel! I like it.

Have to say looking at it from the drone, Ravenhill is a fabulous stadium. You'd love to see the Sportsgrounds (and indeed the RDS) redeveloped in a similar fashion.

Ugh that was a soft pen, didn't think he was on his feet there & slightly high on the intial tackle.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Loads of errors so far. Scrappy.

Christ that is brain dead from Jack Carty with us having a really strong attacking platform. FFS.

And again with advantage. It'd be generous to call that cross kick to porch even a hail mary. He had no chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

No idea why Carty kicked that. Connacht were making ground carrying. Just keep doing that. Even if you had advantage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Rory Sutherland should be off for 10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

and to follow that up the awful crossfield kick that was never on. An absolute waste of the advantage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭MayoForSam

Home town decision there against Prendergast.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Think that should have been a penalty the other way tbh. Ulster lucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

    Brace is terrible ref.

Nothing in that bit of pushing & shoving, standard derby match stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,286 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

    agree

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Third man in always going to be penalised in those situations, but Sutherland can count himself very lucky

How do you not pass that Farrell?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Why didn’t he pass tthat?! Certain try for Connacht if so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

butchered, blade would have been in under the posts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Bizarre from Farrell. Little pop pass and Blade is in under the posts. Instead he just runs straight into the last defender.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,806 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

That was a bizarre decision to take that to contact.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Farrell even looked at him then went nah I'll take the contact.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Magic from Farrell followed by absolute bewilderment from Farrell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Brave from Lowry but Farrell absolutely has to get that pass off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Worry for Connacht is they have been on top here but have left points behind them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭Redo91

Shocking from Farrell. Two poor choices from Carty before that. Decision making is killing us.

Balacoune is such a long man. He's like 86% limbs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

Carty is a really poor 10. Farrell should be absolutely roasted for that. How can a professional player fvck up a 3 on 1. That is criminal.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

loads of pressure from Connacht but Ulster going to take the first points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,604 ✭✭✭typhoony

Ulster are there for the taking if we can keep our discipline

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,286 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

Bealham playing some lovely rugby tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Good catch on the swinging arm from Cooney tbf, don't like seeing that.

Its a pretty even contest so far, dont think there will be much in this at the end.

a game that the benches could decide the outcome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Carty having a bit of a mare. Massive knock on there but Buckley turned it over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Good turnover in the end but christ almighty Carty is having a nightmare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,655 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Finn Russell from wish is having a torid time, but thats nothing new.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

If Ulster left the pitch, Connacht would find a way to mess it up and not score. Ulster have been pretty poor, are probably wondering how they’re not behind in this game.

Don't think that was a penalty at all for Ulster? Looked like the Connacht player held his line and Cooney ran into him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭Cateym

Lots of mistakes from both sides but Carty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭MayoForSam

That's two Prendergasts that have a decent boot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Great kick from Prendergast and super breakdown work on Balacoune.

Connacht better start making this count on the scoreboard though, Ulster will wake up eventually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,655 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Prendergast is a great player, always enjoyable watching him play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭MayoForSam

Jack is a major liability at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,710 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

There's something remarkably unlikeable about James Hume.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Apart from his two goal kicks, Carty has pretty much done everything badly.

If Connacht had even competent 10 play here they’d probably be 10+ points up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

    Jack again ffs.

Must have thrown a few pound on Ulster or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭Redo91

    Carty having a mare!
