Boards advertising colours

    Hi,

Can you please either change the location or the colour of the ads. More than once I have written a lengthy enough post only to hit an ad instead of the reply button. This wasn't a problem when autosave was on and my progress was saved, but now, it's making the site very unusable for me.

I am neuro-divergent, so this is probably a "me" problem, but you should be aware that it is an access issue. All I see is a box roughly the same size and colour as "post".

    I've attached a screenshot.

I'm neurotypical and I've noticed the same thing. It strikes me as a very cynical attempt to essentially trick posters into clicking on ads. Which are gone beyond ridiculously intrusive (not to mention borderline offensive at times).

To the best of my knowledge, the contents of the ad are controlled by Google, and things like colours aren't controlled on the boards.ie side. If it's genuinely an impediment to using the site, then you could install and ad blocker to remove them.

    Hi there,

I will pass the on an try to resolve this issue. That is a poor ad placement and I agree that it makes that section difficult to use. The content of these ads are controlled by Google and are placed on site by a third party that we work with. Currently the ads are one of the very few things keeping the show on the road here so I would like to try to discourage you from using ad blockers although how you use the site is entirely your own decision.

A fix may not be in place immediately so I appreciate your patience while it is being worked out.

    Best,

    Mike

Thanks Mike, I appreciate that. I would stop using the site before I use an ad blocker on boards.

    Hi there,

Snigel got back to me very quickly with some suggestions on a fix. I'm hoping they can move this ad placement to another location on mobile page so that at least it doesn't interfere with the comment box area. They will implement the change as soon as they can.

Thanks again for raising this with us.

    -Mike
