Have you ever been on a radio phone-in ?

if not, would you do it? If yes, would you do it again? With the demise of the Classic Hits Radio lunchtime phone-in show, which was running for over 12 years, people have mentioned how it relied on the same regulars always phoning in and a lot of staged calls. The phone-in has been dying off for a good few years, 98fm and FM104 have dropped their long running ones in recent years. I think nowadays most people are using social media to sound off, talk back and express themselves

Yes, texted into Newstalk years ago because Michael Healy Rae was on one of their shows talking about Uber and making all sorts of nonsense arguments. The producer called me and asked would I go on air, which I did, and debated him under the table. And to this day I'm in disbelief that he still gets elected as a TD.

Yep, was called by a station about a time I appeared on C4's Countdown!

(the producer was a pal of a pal of mine).

Never again, I hated every second of it. I am not good speaking off the cuff.

Spoke to Gerry Ryan on air way back in the day when I was a teenager.

I got called by Newstalk Lunchtime staff a few times but there was no way I was going on to debate anything!

I have been on air on the phone on various stations for music-related stuff, but never talk show phone-ins.

Does the 2 grand quiz on 96FM count?

I was talking to a fat overpaid stupid pr1cck about his leg on radio.

    Wonderful wonderful conversation.

I was on Adrian Jeremy’s show back when he was at FM104. Hated it. Phone calls can be bad enough without trying to follow a debate where someone is roaring down the phone and the pressure of it being on the radio. I can’t understand why anyone would become a regular.

Texted Newstalk after Staunton's 3rd game as manager to say that he hadn't a clue how to organise a defence and if we stuck with him, we'd be in big trouble. They put me on air to repeat my argument.

Usually when I go that strong on something, I'm wrong. Lo and behold, I got that one spot on.

I was on Newstalk Lunchtime last month, off the balls Shane Hannon was in studio defending his ambush of Katie Harrington, presenter ( Andrea Gilligan) gave me about two minutes to speak, Hannon wilfully misinterpreted my point but my protests were muted and no comeback
