What would be the least disruptive replacement for this shower?

It's my neighbours and he says it's too hot and won't turn down.

Ask him if the water supply is direct from the mains or is supplied from a CWST in the attic (a pumped electric shower).

If the former, direct from the mains then the 9kw Triton T80 Fast Fit is very easy shower to retrofit.

I was in looking at it. It's gravity fed from cwst.

The T90SR is generally accepted as being one of the best but is landscape, I think they also make a portrait type with the same silent running (SR) motor, think its called the Triton T900PI, Sleeper12 will inform. Both are 9kw.

Water outlet is on the left so inlet and electrics are on the right. All other pumped electric showers are left side entry. If you have 10 inches free on the right of the shower then a Triton t90sr, triton t900pi or mira elite se will be an easy replacement. Just connect the left side to where the right side is on the Redring, effectively moving the shower sideways. If the current one has big holes or missing tiles behind it then you will need to move pipe and cable & the new shower will have to cover the same footprint

Thanks guys. I'll pass on the info. He'll need an electrician AFAIK.

Been thinking about this. Is water overheating caused by poor flow? (just curious)

Is the pump running, you should certainly hear it, possible blocked inlet strainer or shower head or kinked hose, can you/he run it without the hose, if still a problem clean strainer.

He ran it when I was there and it seemed to work properly at that time. The flow increased and decreased as he turned the knob.

I'll tell him to check the strainer if the problem returns.
