Hi all, I don't do much mileage so I was considering an old 2007-09 Range Rover as a commercial vehicle for work (site visits etc). Thinking that one with a hitch would also be useful around the farm at home. I appreciate that they can have a lot of niggly problems hence the price you can get them for these days but if you got one that had a good service history, would it be a decent enough in terms of general reliability? I wouldn't care too much if parking sensors, or reversing cameras etc started to have issues/fail.

I think your looking for a unicorn. I've no personal experience of them but the general consensus out there is that anything that goes wrong on a RR isn't be cheap to fix.

ya you're probably right. false illusions that doing small mileage would limit the chance of it going tits up

You should go for a land cruiser..range rovers give terrible trouble.

L322 Rangerover is a great car, if well maintained Previously. Best car in the landrover/ Rangerover range. Easy to fix in general, engines are bullet proof, get a good independent Landrover specialist to check it over before buying.

Now I'm a bit biased as I am a landrover independent specialist but all above still is true.

To follow on, the biggest reason I see for landrover / Rangerover having a bad name is that lots of mechanics and garages are afraid of them because they don't know how to fix them. Apart from the ingenium engine in the evoque and disco sport (avoid at all cost) they are fine.

Some people buy them for the looks, fashion statements etc and can't afford or be bothered to get them properly serviced every year, that leads to the "Expensive to fix" problems.

What about the air suspension? Is that fine? I've seen a lot of dead RRs and LRs with clapped out suspension. As they fine too?

Air suspension is very reliable, disco 3 or 4 might need a compressor every 10 years or so rarely need anything else. L322 Rangerover rarely need compressor but maybe front air struts every 8 to 10 years that's it.

Is the 2.7L diesel engine fitted to the Discovery 3 reliable overall?

There's a lad selling one on DD and he's showing a receipt for injectors and a new high pressure fuel pump at a cost of over €11k. Is that normal? Screenshot below.
