SSP - Statutory Sick Pay

    Hi all

    Asking for a friend.

How does the employer calculate SSP daily rate? He works 39 hours a week (M-Th 8 hrs, F 7hrs).

He was off sick Wednesday to Friday and has all the necessary certs etc to qualify but just wants to check what he's entitled to.

The guidelines say 70% of his 'daily rate' but as he works different hours on a Friday he is wondering how this is calculated. The contract is for 39 hours a week.

Does he get 70% of 39 divided by 5? Or does he get 70% of 8 hours by 2 days (W&Th) and 70% of 7 hours (F)?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is he paid on an hourly rate, or a salary?
