Hi everyone just wanted to ask a question here I’m currently on One Parent Family I have two babies. We are living in my parents house which is a nightmare and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get our own place. I’m on council list but wouldn’t get anywhere for years to come. I’m applying for part time work at the minute to afford rent but I’m really stressing about finding somewhere near me for renting as there is almost nothing out there.

You will be entitled to HAP if you are on the housing list and can get support from that straight away.

Thank you I should have mentioned I’m trying to find a property to rent using hap but everything that’s within my budget with hap is either too far away and most of which I’m getting no response from as I’ve never rented and I’m getting no viewings.

You should check with the council and see if they have any HAP place finders. My local council do and they are quite good at helping people find HAP properties. They may be houses that where people have been given a property by the council recently so might not reach the market. It's worth asking at least.
