Battery settings for summer months

We have Sofar inverter (HYD 3K 6K EP) and battery (GTX5000-PRO) set up last September with 16 panels and an Eddi. There is a bit of history with mistakes made by installer but for the moment the battery is disabled and is charging up occasionally to keep a minimum charge. For the moment, we are keeping the 24 hr rate for imported energy. The battery is a bit redundant with no night/off peak rate.

Can someone talk us through setting up the battery to charge from the solar excess so that it 'runs the house' at night. For starters what is the code for getting into the 'Advanced settings'. I think it might be 0000. When does the battery start discharging? might it discharge in the afternoon if dull/no solar but after a sunny morning that charges it fully? Is this a setting?

Turn off the timed charging. It should just run from the battery when the PV generation has stopped. Do not set a discharge time.

0715 is apparently the passcode. I'd suggest to find the manual for your inverter and familiarise yourself with the modes.

Password should be 0001 I believe.

Under "Energy Storage Mode" choose option 1 = Self-use Mode.

Why not request a night meter? Best option for solar and battery...

We still have old style meter so excess to the grid is paid back at full cost of a unit. Yes this will change when we are forced to take a smart meter and also when energy providers come up with better options for FIT and off peak charging.

I would prefer the installer would come back and sort things but.....
