Irish Times pauses adjudication of this year's Theatre Awards after 'concern' about nominations

THE IRISH TIMES has paused its judging process for this year’s Irish Theatre Awards.

It follows criticism of what’s believed to be a lack of diversity in the process, with one creative team in particular pointing out that only white members of its team were nominated.....

All because the two individual nominations were white people.

Has it occurred to anyone that the these 2 white folk might actually have been better than their peers? It does happen.

I don't hear anyone complaining about people of color dominating soccer or rap.....where will this fuckery end?

Talent is blind to skin colour.

Have Fintan O'Toole and Una Mullally jumped from the upper floors in anguish at this oversight?

Sadly society has morphed into a Guardian opinion piece

There's a good reason that people warned that this stuff shouldn't just be mocked and that it would eventually spread throughout society.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

No sympathy for the IT. They, like many others, have fully embraced toxic identity politics.

Live by the woke sword, die by the woke sword.

    It's all a bit of a mess.

We saw the Brits Awards approach, and that ended badly.

Now, the Times are gonna revise noms? A lovely precedent to set, handing over power to the mob to swap any narrative that doesn't support the most current ideals.

There is now no good outcome for this. They've given in to woke agitation and so there will be somebody left unhappy, no matter what. They should just bin the competition.

    Great to see this

IT have disappeared up their own holes the last few years peddling exactly this kind of thing.

Delighted to see it turned back on them.
