Care of wooden surfaces

Hello,

(I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my questions MODS)

I have a new wooden kitchen table, and I'm curious about what is the best way to maintain it.

I have read that sprays such as Pledge may not be the best.

Should I use a slightly damp microfibre cloth? With olive oil maybe, to seal the wood? Or is there any kind of natural wax I can use for that purpose?

I'm guessing some kind of wood polish (beeswax maybe?), but I don't want it to change the colour of the wood?

Has anyone used this? The table has a matt texture; I don't want it to be shiny...

We have a similar table and we give it a going over with a special wood oil about once a year. We should maybe do it twice a year, but it does the job. We clean it as needed with a normal cloth that's not too wet.
