M18 Motorway - Rough Riding

We travelled from Limerick to Tuam today on the M18 motorway, solid 120kmh on cruise control, but couldn’t believe how rough riding and noisy the road surface was?! At speed it was causing the car to vibrate fairly violently.

Has anybody else noticed this? Compared to many of the other motorways, we regularly travel on I was surprised at how bad the road surface was for the majority of the journey.

Honestly have never found that and I’d do that route fairly regularly. Road surface isn’t perfect, especially from Limerick to Shannon, but not to the extent that you’d find it uncomfortable or that the car would vibrate violently, or even vibrate.

I can't say I've noticed anything like this, would use the full road a couple of times a month. It's fairly quiet compared to other motorways of course, whether that old have any impact on surface or driver experience I doubt, but can't say for certain.

We were in a hire car (BMW 5 Series MSport) - I’ll put it down to the individual car in this case given it has sports tyres/suspension etc. I’ll be interested to try it in my own car in a few week’s time!
