Used 2nd car advice

Looking for some advice on buying a used car (mainly for my son, who just passed his test). Myself and OH will be using it as well as a run around and he'll be a named driver, until he can afford his own car. I'm clueless on makes/models. I've driven Kias for the past 15 years, so that's all i know.

I'm looking at 1.0 to 1.2 max and budget around 12k, but could stretch to 15k.

Any makes/models that are reliable or anything to avoid?

If you have had good service from Kia then you could stick with them and look at the Rio.

    For example:

Another one would be the Toyota Yaris:

Cheers for that. I was looking at the Rio as well. Nice car. on the RIO ad, is 3 owners something to be concerned about?

Would depend on the length of time between owners but it's a 6 year old car so that's an average of 2 years per owner which wouldn't be unusual as lots of people would change cars on average every 2 years or so. Being sold by a main dealer too who is pretty reputable rather than from a back street type dealer in a portocabin. Make sure to have a good look at the car's service history to get an idea of how the previous owners maintained it, should be a Kia service history given the orignial 7 year Kia warranty.
