Income Tax Registered & Statement of Liability

I'm a bit confused with my tax return this year. I normally do it without issue but in 2022 I had additional income over €5k from freelance work which wasn't taxed at source. So after researching a bit I realised I had to fill out a Form 11, and to do that I had to register on ros.ie (not MyAccount, which I had registered for already).

So I've done that now and am awaiting for it to be processed. I think it takes 3 days to come through. However, now when I go into MyAccount and try to view my Statement of Liability, a message pops up and says "We cannot process your request as you were registered for Income Tax during 2022".

Back in January I had filled out my Statement of Liability (with my medical expenses, dividends etc.) but I never submitted it as I was trying to figure out how to handle my additional income for the year. Have I done something wrong here or does it just mean I have to submit this all again through Form 11? I'm not sure how it works and it's not exactly clear on the Revenue website. Thanks.

Once you are registered with ROS and have more than €5k over and above your PAYE income, everything must go on your Form 11.

The My account SOL will no longer issue, but you will get a balancing statement from ROS, which is effectively the same thing.

Thanks. That's good to know. Is it a similar process i.e. is it as straight forward as MyAccount?

Also, can I revert back to the MyAccount Statement of Liability for 2023 if I don't earn over €5k in additional untaxed additional income this year?

IIRC you need a few years without the 5k before you can get back

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

Thanks. Hopefully there's not much extra work involved in doing Form 11.
