Importing a bike

    Hi all,

16 years ago I bought a 10 year old BMW Airhead in Germany, no problems, dealer palatalized it and a transport company picked it up and dropped it to me. Now nearing retirement, I was thinking of treating myself to something a lot newer. The model and colour combination I would like is not available here, but is in NI, UK and EU.

I know UK is not viable, but what is the situation on a NI reg less than 2 year old? I am aware of the VRT calculations and min 6 months/6,000km bit, but what about VAT?

I could look at Germany again, but am out of touch with transport costs.

Anyone interested in a R100GSPD classic?

Jarvis transport have been recommended before. They only do Europe - no longer UK. Give them a shout for costs.

Germany or Netherlands is very easy and to ship a bike anywhere from €375 - €550 depending on where exactly it has to come from.

Just avoid anything under 6 months old, 6k kms and the world is your oyster.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
