    Hi,

Im replaceing an old PIR from 20 years ago I wired thats now acting up, its deffective. Ive a new PIR and not certain about the wiring.

    Existing two cables:

One live supply cable goes to the PIR and the other cable to the flood light.

Where does the live supply connect to? The red or brown port? - see pic Im thinking the live supply conects to the the brown and the red cable takes the other live/red cable to the flood light.

    Am i right?

    Thanks.

I'd wire the mains in to the brown (live) and blue (neutral) and take the output for the light to from the red (live) and blue (neutral). Thats what the little diagram in side the unit in the second picture suggests and that makes perfect sense to me. You'll have two wires in the neutral (centre) connection.

Wake me up when it's all over.

That connector block is up-side-down in the photo, but it's marked with an UP arrow.

So with the connector block correctly rotated (top to bottom) it would be:

    • L' - Red - Switched Live - Switched live out to lamp.
    • N - Blue - Neutral to PIR
    • L - Brown - Live input to PIR.

So your light fitting then takes L' (switched live) and N AND Earth (which will come off a connector block either within the PIR or elsewhere).

The diagram shows a two-pole isolator at the very top of the wiring diagram, which while you should have anyway, should be ignored for the purposes of wiring from the PIR.
