Why is it that every car manufacturer has seen light bars and decided to make cars look likeRRobocop?

Not bad looking overall though, and having Sony on board should make for a good user experience

I look forward to playing some PlayStation games while charging 😁

Maybe it'll be available in beige to complete the bland experience.

    Ms

So yes I just came up with that Sonda/Hony name. I think that would have been a far better name for there new brand depending I suppose on the markets and if either name means something bad they could just change it to the other name.

Sonda for Sony and Honda and of course Hony for Honda and Sony :)

    I am a genius hehe:)

    Peace and long life.

I don't think it's bad looking but I'll admit it's pretty disappointing after the Honda E which IMO is one of the best looking electric city cars inside and out

I think the partnership is a smart move. Traditional automakers have always struggled with software and the UX side of things in particular (looking at you VW).

So partnering with a software company, particularly one with a lot of UX background and experience designing very graphics intense software is a good idea

Now I'll admit, there's probably better options out there than Sony (whoever designed the media controls on the ps5 needs to be fired) but I'm going to guess there's some home field advantage given they're both Japanese companies

They seem to be going the opposite way to Tesla in the sensor suite for ADAS!! Maybe a bit too much and too complex?

But Sony do make camera so maybe trying to maximize returns 😁

I guess when you're starting out at self driving it's better to have too many sensors than too few?

If my phone has 4 cameras why can’t a car have 80 😂😂

must be crazy onboard electronics that can process all that data

I remember in a previous job we were working on camera sensors with the ability to process data built in

So the idea is instead of sending a very large image to a server to be processed, you'd tell the camera what you want to look for and they'd tell you when they see it

I imagine cars will start using that technology if they aren't already

So the camera would for example signal the car with a message that it sees a pedestrian ahead and the car reacts by braking

I don't think that would be the approach, OEMs are going down the route of less ECU's (can be up to 150 on top end car) and centralised into larger domain controllers and cloud computing. Sensors are getting more dumb image and signal processing wise but have higher resolution data.
