Adjusting to using thermostats…

Strange question… Our house has a digital wall clock for timing the oil heating. Usual boost for an hour or timed options. No thermostats in the house in any rooms. TRVs in the rooms but the manual 1-5 adjustment ones.

I've been dying to get a smart system installed for the last few years but can’t commit as yet.

To add another layer of complexity, we have a stove with a back boiler too.

Really liked the idea of a Tado setup with the smart TRVs so we could lower the temp of some rooms when not in use.

Concern I have is moving to the thermostat way of thinking, if that makes sense! So instead of “house is kinda cool, boost the heat for an hour there” we’d have a thermostat set to 19/20 and let it work it out. Wife is worried the oil would be on too much. At times I think it might struggle to get the room to that temp and just be on all day.

Just not used to the idea of using thermostats so I could be wrong!

Does the Tado work by only heating to the set temperatures when the oil is timed or does the temp dictate the call for heat at all times?

Anyone else need to make this mind shift?
