I've gas heating in the house, one radiator in the bedroom is stone cold (I'm able to bleed the radiator so there is water inside it), I've swapped the thermostatic valve with another radiator in the house and it's still not working. I've the boiler turned up to the max. I've checked all the other radiators and removed any air etc. Anything else could I try?

    TIA

Have you tried turning all other radiators off to see if this one radiator will heat on its own, the whole system might just need balanced.

I s the rad old and might contain sludge?

Also the pin on the trv could be stuck down. If trying to pull it up with a pliers,,, be very careful. You wouldn't be the first one to pull it out altogether.

Better way is to test it first, by pushing on the pin. It only needs to move about 3mm. If not moving, tap gently on it with a very light hammer. Be careful not to bend it.

Hate to point out the obvious, but it might be isolated at the lock-shield valve! All of the ideas above are also valid too, but I'd check this before I adjusted the remaining rads.

OP on the opposite side to the TRV there is another valve which can be used to close off a rad. This might be covered with a blanking cap and may need a screwdriver or wrench to open it. Try close it (anti-clockwise) first, count the rotations, then open it fully - counting the rotations and see if the open position helps the rad heat up. You must then close off that same valve to the point where the flow continues to the rad and does not unbalance the remaining rads on the system.

I'm having exact same issue as op. One rad not heating. There's a rad in back kitchen the exact same size which heats in seconds. You can hear the water gush into it when you turn it on. Anyway I decided yesterday to swap the rads, thinking sludge might be an issue. No luck. Rad still not heating. I unscrewed the pipe on the left (it's the old type not the newer trvs and opened it fully. Water is just trickling. Should this not be gushing everywhere? Any ideas what issue maybe

Thanks for swift reply. How would you unclog it or is it job for pro?

Did some more research on my cold rad and the trickle of water when valve was opened. Found a video on YouTube of a guy blowing air using a footpump into pipe. Anyway long story short it worked. After a couple of pumps water started flowing more freely and pure black came out. Obviously some blockage in the pipe. Radiator is now heating good as new and I'm feeling very pleased :)
